HICKORY, N.C. – Duke women's soccer head coach
Robbie Church was inducted into the North Carolina Soccer Hall of Fame, as the Class of 2020 was honored Saturday evening at the Hickory Metro Convention Center in Hickory, N.C.
Church joined the duo of Clemson head coach Eddie Radwanski and former soccer official Kim Oberle as the 67
th, 68
th and 69
th members of the NC Soccer Hall of Fame. Along with the three honorees, the 1993 and 1994 Greensboro Dynamo teams were inducted as the seventh member of the NC Soccer Hall of Fame's National Champions Hall of Honor.
"It's a really humbling honor that's beyond words for me," said Church. "I want to thank all the current and past players that have played at Duke along with all the current and past coaches that have worked in the women's soccer program. I just happened to receive this honor, but it all goes to them and their commitment to our program along with all the hard work that they have put into the Duke women's soccer program."
Since being named the head coach of the Duke women's soccer program on July 9, 2001, Church has built the Blue Devils into a national powerhouse, making three NCAA College Cup appearances and capturing a pair of ACC championships over his tenure in Durham. The 2011 and 2017 ACC Coach of the Year closed out his 19
th season with another NCAA Tournament appearance for the Blue Devils, marking 16
th tournament selection over the last 17 seasons.
Church ranked as the 19
th winningest active coach in NCAA Women's soccer with a total of 322 wins, and the fifth winningest coach in the ACC entering the 2019 season. The Greensboro, N.C., native now sits at 331 wins across his 25 years of coaching women's soccer.
