DURHAM, N.C. – Four different Blue Devils will be in action this week as the first full field of 2020 gets set for the Gainbridge LPGA at Boca Rio from Jan. 23-26. The tournament will be played at the Boca Rio Golf Club in Boca Raton, Fla.
Seeing action will be Celine Boutier, Yu Liu, Lindy Duncan and Leona Maguire along with 104 other golfers. The field will play 72 holes with a cut to the top 70 and ties after 36 holes.
Boutier, a 2016 Duke graduate, placed ninth in the LPGA season opener last week and held the individual lead at one point with rounds of 66, 69, 69 and 71 for a nine-under-par, 275.
A member of the Blue Devils' 2014 NCAA Championship squad, Liu will enter her third full season on the LPGA and is coming off a 2019 campaign that featured seven top 10 finishes. Duncan, who graduated from Duke in 2013, will enter her fifth full season on the LPGA and has amassed $971,470 earnings. Maguire, a 2018 Blue Devil graduate, enters her first full season on the LPGA, after finishing seventh on the Symetra Tour money list to earn LPGA Tour membership for the 2020 season.
Duncan is one of eight native Floridians seeing action in the event -- Jaye Marie Green, Jessica Korda, Nelly Korda, Brittany Lincicome, Madison Pressel, Morgan Pressel and Lexi Thompson.
Fans will be able to follow the action live on the Golf Channel Jan. 23-24 from 11:30 a.m., to 2 p.m. On the weekend, the Golf Channel will have coverage from 3-5:30 p.m., on Jan. 25 and 3-5 p.m., on Jan. 26.
