DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke women's golf team will hit the road this weekend as the Blue Devils prepare to compete in the Windy City Classic Sept. 30 through Oct. 1 at the Glenview Country Club in Chicago, Ill.
It will mark the fourth consecutive year Duke has traveled to Chicago for the event and is coming off a sixth place ledger a year ago with a 54-hole score of 878.
Seeing action in the Windy City Classic will be Duke, Arizona, Arizona State, Augusta, Florida, Iowa State, Michigan, Northwestern, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Purdue, South Carolina, Southern California, Vanderbilt and Virginia.
Teams will play 36 holes Sunday, Sept. 30 followed by 18 holes Monday, Oct. 1.
For the second straight tournament, Duke will field a lineup of senior
Ana Belac, junior
Jaravee Boonchant, junior
Miranda Wang, sophomore
Gina Kim and freshman
Erica Shepherd. The Blue Devils are coming off a ninth place showing in the season opener at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate with rounds of 292, 289 and 302. Kim, who hails from Chapel Hill, N.C., paced the Blue Devils with a tied for 11th showing with rounds of 73, 70 and 72 for a one-under-par, 215.
Shepherd, a native of Greenwood, Ind., will be meeting the Blue Devils in Chicago, after competing in the LPGA Indy Women in Tech Championship in Indianapolis, Ind., Sept. 26-29.
