DURHAM, N.C. – After spending much of last season ranked as high as No. 2 in the Top 25 rankings, the Duke men's golf team has reached No. 1 in this week's
Golfweek college golf rankings.
The newest
Golfweek rankings were unveiled Thursday, ahead of Duke's second tournament this fall – the Nike Collegiate Invitational – that begins Sunday in Portland, Oregon, where Duke is the defending team champion.
Individually, junior
Adrien Pendaries is ranked No. 2 nationally, with seniors
Steven DiLisio (No. 70) and
Chandler Eaton (No. 71) also occupying spots in the top 100.
Head Coach
Jamie Green's team has one event in the books, which was a strong second-place finish to the previously No. 1-ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons at the
Rod Myers Invitational. Duke held off four other Top 25 teams in the RMI, including North Carolina, Louisville, Penn State and Liberty.
Wake slipped to No. 2 in the Top 25 rankings this week, followed by Arizona State, Washington and Georgia Tech in the top five. In all, the ACC has seven programs in the Top 25, including North Carolina (No. 8), Louisville (11), Notre Dame (14) and Clemson (17).
