DURHAM, N.C. – As head coach
Dan Brooks enters his 36th season at the helm of the preseason second-ranked Duke women's golf program, the Blue Devils will open the 2019-20 campaign at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate Sept. 16-18 in Lake Elmo, Minn., at the Royal Golf Club.
Seeing action in the intercollegiate will be six of the top 10 teams ranked in the preseason Golfweek ledger – Southern California, Duke, Texas, UCLA, Arizona State and Wake Forest. Other teams competing include Arkansas, Virginia, Alabama, Minnesota, South Carolina and Arizona.
Teams will play 18 holes each day with tee times ranging from 9:30-11 a.m. (ET).
Brooks, who guided the Blue Devils to their seventh NCAA Championship in 2019, returns four letterwinners and welcomes a standout recruiting class to the mix this season. Duke will field a lineup of senior
Ana Belac, junior
Jaravee Boonchant, junior
Miranda Wang, sophomore
Gina Kim and freshman
Erica Shepherd in the season opener.
The lineup includes three All-America selections from a year ago – Belac, Boonchant and Kim.
Duke has competed in the ANNIKA Intercollegiate four times with its best finish coming in 2015 with a fourth place ledger. It will mark the second straight year the tournament has been played in Lake Elmo, Minn., as the Blue Devils placed fifth overall in 2018 with rounds of 279, 278 and 293 for a 54-hole ledger of 850. Belac, a product of Portoroz, Slovenia, carded a 10-under-par, 206, last year and finished fourth overall.
