Beck Selected to Compete in Blizzard Wild Card Challenge
ORLANDO, Fla. – Duke women's tennis freshman Chloe Beck has been selected to compete at the second-annual Winter Wild Card Challenge on Dec. 17-21 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
In just the second year of the challenge, Beck joins teammate Kelly Chen who was a 2018 selection.
A native of Watkinsville, Ga., Beck enters the challenge and the spring slate ranked No. 25 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
Beck was previously unranked heading into the start of the fall season and defeated four ranked opponents to play to a 10-3 overall ledger. At the ITA All-American Championships in October, Beck entered the tournament in the qualifying singles draw and worked her way into the main draw by defeating six ranked opponents. She ultimately fell in the semifinals.
Beck will be joined by seven other women's competitors as well as eight men, all fighting for a total of nine wild cards into 2020 USTA Pro Circuit tournaments. The winners from the men's and women's fields earn two 25K main draw wild cards, while the finalists get one 25K main draw wild card. The third-place finishers will leave with a wild card into the main draw of a 15K.
Joining Beck in the women's field are: No. T4 Sara Daavetilla (North Carolina), No. 6 Abigail Forbes (UCLA), No. 8 Alexa Graham (North Carolina), No. 23 Adriana Reami (N.C. State), No. 27 Mia Horvit (USC), No. 32 Christina Rosca (Vanderbilt) and No. 30 Natasha Subhash (Virginia).
