DURHAM, N.C.—Duke men's soccer senior
Daniele Proch and junior
Will Pulisic kick off the beginning of awards season, earning 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-District III first team honors as voted by members of the organization. The Blue Devils are the lone ACC school to have multiple players represented.
Proch garners the honor for the second consecutive year, while Pulisic nabs his first Academic All-District recognition. Both advance to the Academic All-America national ballot. Those recipients will be announced in early December.
Duke's leader on the field, Proch had yet another strong season in leading the Blue Devils with a career-best 12 goals and 29 points. He scored or assisted on 17 of Duke's 29 goals this season and currently ranks fourth in the ACC in goals and points. A native of Riva Del Garda, Italy, Proch consistently broke down opposing defenses even while being man-marked.
In the classroom, his efforts and success are equally as impressive. He holds a 3.75 grade point average and will graduate in December with a degree in history. He is a three-time member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll and garnered Google Cloud Academic All-America honors in 2018. A 2018 Hermann Trophy semifinalist, Proch currently ranks fourth among active players in points (90) and fifth in goals (36).
Duke's anchor in goal, Pulisic played every minute this year and led the ACC in saves with 63. He picked up six shutouts in 2019 and finished the campaign with a 1.41 goals against average and a .708 save percentage. Playing all but 10:50 over the past three seasons, Pulisic has 182 saves and 19 shutouts.
The 2019 Academic All-District® Men's Soccer Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
The Blue Devils concluded the 2019 season with a 7-9-2 overall record.
