ALPHARETTA, Ga. – Junior
Adrien Pendaries fired an opening-round three-under 69 and the No. 10 Duke men's golf team is in third place after the first round of the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate in Alpharetta, Ga., on Friday.
Pendaries is tied for seventh through 18 holes and was followed a shot back by classmate
Evan Katz, whose first-round 70 has him tied for 11th. Senior
Steven DiLisio's 71 gave the Blue Devils three in the top 20 as he is tied for 16th.
No. 9 Pepperdine holds the early lead at the par-72 GC of Georgia with its 12-under 276, followed by Stanford (-5), Duke (-4), UCLA (-3) and No. 13 North Carolina (-3) to round out the top five of the 14-team field, which includes seven Top 25 teams.
Katz ripped off three birdies in his first four holes on Friday en route to his two-under 70. Pendaries' card had five birdies, including a birdie on the par-5 18th, as the junior signed for his sixth round in the 60's of his seven rounds played this season.

Chandler Eaton posted an opening-round 74 (+2) and is tied for 43rd, while junior
Qi wen Wong shot 76 on Friday and is tied for 61st.
Three players are tied atop the individual leaderboard at five-under par – Stanford's David Snyder, USC's Yuxin Lin and Texas A&M's William Paysse.
The Blue Devils are paired with East Tennessee State and TCU in Saturday's second round and will tee of No. 10 beginning at 9:31 a.m. ET.
