Sunday Rewind: A Look Back at the Georgia Tech Game

DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke football got back to its winning ways Saturday when it took down Georgia Tech, 41-23, for its second ACC win.Â

Let's take a quick rewind to see how everything unfolded.
Georgia Tech opened the scoring by marching 75 yards down the field, including converting a 3rd-and-12 play en route to a 19-yard touchdown pass for the early advantage. Duke responded with 38 consecutive points though to take a 38-14 lead into halftime. The Blue Devils outgained the Yellow Jackets, 268-93, heading into the break after Georgia Tech's opening score, getting 121 yards on the ground and 147 through the air. Â

Redshirt senior quarterback Quentin Harris went 11-of-20 for 176 yards through the air, rushed for another 38, and added a touchdown to highlight the Duke offense. Harris is now the fifth QB in the David Cutcliffe era at Duke to have consecutive seasons with five+ rushing touchdowns.

Deon Jackson found paydirt twice in the game for his first career multiple-rushing touchdown game.

And for the first time since 2012, Duke registered a blocked punt for a score after redshirt junior Xander Gagnon blocked the Blue Devils' second punt of the year when he broke free with three minutes to play in the half. Redshirt junior Javon Jackson then scooped up that blocked punt and returned it 14 yards for the score, marking Duke's first blocked punt for a TD since Tony Foster did so against Cincinnati on Dec. 27, 2012.

After the break, Duke added another field goal to ultiimately put the game away. Redshirt junior AJ Reed remained perfect through the uprights this season as he converted on two field goals (33 and 36 yards) marking the fifth-straight contest in which the Prattville, Ala., native recorded a FG. Reed has now converted on eight consecutive FG attempts, making this the first time a Duke kicker has made eight-straight since Ross Martin had 12 in a row to start the 2015 season.

Defensively, Koby Quansah and Brandon Hill both had 11 tackles apiece, while Victor Dimukeje earned a career-high three sacks on the day. The three sacks for Dimukeje were tied for second in Duke's single-game history and are the most since 2016 and the most in an ACC game since 2003.

There were a few special guests in attendance at Saturday's game, including current New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones and former Duke head coach Steve Spurrier.
The Blue Devils travel to Charlottesville next Saturday to take on Virginia. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m., on the ACC Network.
