VANCOUVER, B.C. – Duke University women's golf incoming freshman Gina Kim closed a solid week in Vancouver, British Columbia Friday by finishing tied third overall with a nine-under, 275, over 72 holes at the Marine Drive Golf Club.
“Finishing in the top three motivates me to work hard during the week of rest that I have before competing in the U.S. Women's Amateur,” said Kim. “Hopefully I can make it in the top three at the U.S. Amateur as well.”
Kim, a native of Chapel Hill, N.C., carded rounds of 67, 68, 71 and 69 over the four days to finish two shots off the lead. She opened the final round with a birdie on hole No. 1 and then connected on eight straight pars. Kim suffered her first bogey of the day on No. 10, but came back to birdie holes No. 12 and No. 13 to move to nine-under-par. She had a bogey on No. 13, but closed the tournament with a birdie on No. 18 to finish at nine-under.
Over the 72 holes, Kim turned in tied for the most birdies with 20 and played the par fives at eight-under, which was also tied for first against a field that included some of the top collegiate golfers in the nation.
Yealimi Noh won the individual tile with an 11-under, 273, while Dylan Kim was second at 10-under, 274. Gina Kim tied for third along with Lilia Kha-Tu Vu and Allisen Corpuz.
