GRENOBLE, France – Freshman women's tennis player Maria Mateas and Team USA opened play Friday at the annual Master'U BNP Paribas International Collegiate Team Competition in Grenoble, France where the United States advanced to the semifinals.
Team USA defeated Belgium in the quarterfinals and will face Ireland, who defeated China, in the semis. Joining the U.S. will be Great Britain and Germany.
Mateas played No. 1 for the women in singles and defeated Justine Pysson (6-4, 6-0) before teaming up with UCLA's Jada Hart in doubles. The duo defeated Mathilde Devits and Chelsea Vanhoutte (8-3).
