DURHAM, N.C. – Following an undefeated start at the Kitty Harrison Invitational, the Duke women's tennis team continued its strong run Saturday with a 4-0 showing at the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center on the campus of Duke University.
Junior Meible Chi and sophomore Kelly Chen opened doubles competition with a dominant performance, dispatching Elon's Maria Paraja and Alex Koniaev, 8-0. The duo is now 2-0 this fall.
Chi, Chen and senior Kaitlyn McCarthy turned their attention to singles to take on James Madison. No. 31 Chi defeated Abby Amos (6-0, 6-3) while No. 12 Chen took down Daria Afanasyeva (6-3, 6-4). No. 84 McCarthy rounded out singles action with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Jona Roka.
Entering the final month of fall competition, Chi owns an 8-2 ledger while Chen is 4-1 and McCarthy is 6-3.
Duke will face Maryland Sunday at 9 a.m., in singles to close out the Kitty Harrison Invitational.
