WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Members of the Duke swimming and diving program competed for the ACC in five different events to open action at the inaugural ACC/Big Ten Challenge Saturday evening at Purdue's Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center.

The Big Ten men narrowly led the ACC men, 85-82, at the end of the first of two sessions while the Big Ten held a 123-44 advantage in the women's meet at the end of day one.

Several Blue Devils took part in the opening event of the meet, the 400-yard medley relay. Junior Kylie Jordan was fourth along with the ACC's 'B' relay in the women's race, splitting 52.55 on the butterfly leg. Junior Alyssa Marsh competed in the same event, taking fifth as a member of the conference's 'C' relay team (3:35.16). In addition, Marsh was fourth (53.06) and Jordan sixth (53.17) in the women's 100 butterfly, with both Blue Devils collecting NCAA provisional time standards in the event.

Duke's Max St. George, Judd Howard and Miles Williams all swam on the ACC's 'C' relay in the men's 400 medley relay, combining for a fifth-place finish (3:10.93). Williams returned to the pool at the end of the night for the 800 freestyle relay, splitting 1:36.87 on the second leg of the fifth-place team, while freshman Easop Lee took fourth in the same event on the women's side as a member of the ACC's 'B' relay. Lee also represented the conference individually, coming in seventh in the women's 400 individual medley. Her time of 4:14.97 was good for an NCAA 'B' cut and the third-fastest mark in program history.

Two Blue Devil divers were also in action Saturday evening, as junior Nathaniel Hernandez placed ninth (346.75) and senior Evan Moretti 10th (334.75) in the men's three-meter competition.

The ACC/Big Ten Challenge continues Sunday morning beginning at 10 a.m. Events will be broadcast live on BTN.
