DURHAM, N.C. – Duke sophomore running back Deon Jackson earned ACC Co-Running Back of the Week honors following his 403 all-purpose yards during the Blue Devils' 54-45 loss at Pittsburgh this past Saturday, announced the league office Monday.
The accolade is the eighth league weekly award for Duke this season and the first in Jackson's career.
At Pittsburgh on Saturday, Jackson rushed 10 times for a career-high 162 yards (16.2), caught three passes for 89 yards (29.7) and one touchdown (74 yards) and returned six kickoffs for 152 yards (25.3) to set the Duke single-game record with 403 all-purpose yards.
The 6-0, 220-pound native of Atlanta became just the third player in ACC history with 400 or more all-purpose yards in a contest, joining Clemson's Tobias Palmer (496 vs. N.C. State, 2012) and Wake Forest's John Leach (411 vs. Maryland, 1993).
On the Duke single-game chart, Jackson surpassed Randy Cuthbert's 311 all-purpose yards against Georgia Tech on October 28, 1989, for the top spot. Jackson joins Cuthbert and Chris Douglas (304 vs. Florida State, 2001) as the only Blue Devils to surpass 300 all-purpose yards in a game.
The ACC's other weekly honorees included Wake Forest's Matt Colburn (Co-Running Back), Carlos Basham (Defensive Lineman) and Cameron Glenn (Defensive Back), Clemson's N.C. State's Kelvin Harmon (Wide Receiver) and Germaine Pratt (Linebacker), Georgia Tech's Parker Braun (Offensive Lineman) and Tobias Oliver (Co-Rookie), Clemson's Trevor Lawrence (Co-Rookie), Pittsburgh's Alex Kessman (Specialist) and Syracuse's Eric Dungey (Quarterback).
The Blue Devils return to action Saturday at 7 p.m. at Miami. The game will be televised by ESPN2.
