DURHAM, N.C. – Prior to his induction into the College Football Hall of Fame, former Duke head coach Steve Spurrier was honored with an NFF Hall of Fame On-Campus Salute, presented by Fidelity Investments, during the Blue Devils' game against Pittsburgh.
Spurrier is one of 13 individuals in the Class of 2017, announced in January by The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame. Spurrier served as the head coach of the Blue Devils from 1987-89 and compiled an overall ledger of 20-13-1. The ACC Coach of the Year selection in both 1988 and 1989, he guided Duke to the ACC Championship and All American Bowl appearance in 1989.
David Cutcliffe's Duke Football TV Show caught up with Spurrier during his visit to Durham and he recalled some of his favorite memories with the Blue Devils.
Duke is open this Saturday before returning to action November 11 at Army West Point for a 12 noon kickoff. Live television coverage will be provided by the CBS Sports Network.
