Duke Ranked No. 1 in Preseason Coaches Poll

DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke men's basketball team debuted at No. 1 in the preseason USA TODAY Coaches Poll released Thursday afternoon.
The Blue Devils received 20 first place votes, 11 more than any other program, and 774 total points. Michigan State (747 points) placed second with nine first place votes. Kansas (723), Kentucky (678) and Arizona (654) rounded out the top five.
Duke and Michigan State will play November 14 at the State Farm Champions Classic at the United Center in Chicago.
Duke returns seven letterwinners from last year's squad and features one senior in guard Grayson Allen.
The Blue Devils will celebrate the beginning of the 2017-18 campaign Friday with Countdown to Craziness presented by Delta Air Lines at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Countdown to Craziness will broadcast live via ACC Network Extra as Ryan Craig, Gerald Henderson and Chris Spatola provide commentary and analysis. ACC Network Extra is an Atlantic Coast Conference-dedicated live-events digital network available to authenticated subscribers of ESPN3 available on WatchESPN and the ESPN app.
Duke will open the 2017-18 regular season when it welcomes Elon to Cameron Indoor Stadium on Friday, Nov. 10. Prior to the start of the regular season, Duke will host exhibition games against Northwest Missouri State on Oct. 27 and Bowie State on Nov. 4.
