Harry Giles: Behind the Scars

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke freshman Harry Giles was one of the most-watched college basketball players before even stepping foot on the court for his first game in a Blue Devils uniform. This was due to the fact that the ESPN No. 1 overall recruit was coming off his third knee surgery since 2013 with the aim of competing in the 2016-17 campaign.

Since arriving at Duke, the 6-foot-10 forward has spent the majority of his time working with training and medical staff to reclaim the athleticism and power that attracted the attention of Coach K in the recruiting process.

In nine games this year, Giles is shooting 50% from the floor and is increasing his minutes as the season progresses.

Giles and the Blue Devils return to action Saturday, taking on Wake Forest in Winston-Salem. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m., with coverage on the ACC Network.
