DURHAM, N.C. -- Less than 24 hours after Friday night's opening ceremonies of the 2016 Rio Olympics, Duke and United States National Team head coach Mike Krzyzewski will lead the U.S. onto the court to face China in its first Group A game.
Krzyzewski has coached USA National teams to a sterling 52-1 record in official FIBA or FIBA Americas competitions since 2006, while also compiling a 27-0 mark in exhibition games and leading teams to gold medal finishes at the 2014 FIBA World Cup, 2012 London Olympics, 2010 FIBA World Championship, 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2007 FIBA Americas Championship.
Krzyzewski is looking to become the first head men's basketball coach to win three Olympic gold medals for the U.S.
While it was announced in October that Coach would remain with USA Basketball as a special advisor after the Rio Olympics, the Games mark the end of a head coaching tenure that has transformed the USA Basketball culture.
In this video, hear from Krzyzewski on his excitement level heading into his final Olympics as National Team head coach and why he calls it the ultimate honor.
Set for 6 p.m. ET on Saturday, the United States' game against China will be televised by NBC Sports Network.
