Duke redshirt junior Lexie Brown is providing updates during the summer on the Blue Devils. A native of Suwanee, Ga., Brown had to sit out this past season due to NCAA transfer rulues, but is excited about getting on the court with Duke in 2016-17.
DURHAM, N.C.-- Hey! It's been a while since my last blog. I've been recovering from my half marathon! Just kidding, but that did take a lot out of me. I couldn't even do workouts the next day!
But now I'm back in full effect and on campus for the summer. I had a nice break at home, but I was so ready to get back in the gym with my sisters. Becca, Kyra, Crystal, Oderah, Lyneé, and I all decided that our summer would be spent in lovely Durham, N.C. Whether its lifts, extra conditioning, or rehab, everyone has been killing it and it makes me so excited for the upcoming season.
We don't just play basketball, however, both Oderah and Becca are working/have internships over the summer session. We are a well-rounded bunch. And Erin, who isn't with us, has an amazing internship in NYC. I have been living vicariously through her snapchats.
Although an internship opportunity was available for me, I decided that this summer was extra important for me to build my strength and get ready for the upcoming season and also to get a little bit ahead in my academics. That degree is just around the corner! Taking an entire year off was something that was new to me, so this season will be extra special to me and I want it to be extra special for you all as well.
I haven't yet decided if I am going to run another half-marathon before the season, but that is definitely an option. But no matter what I decide you can find me in the gym, on the treadmill, or running around campus somewhere.
It's only June 4. And it's going to be a long summer; and I mean that in the most exciting way possible. We just need the rest of the squad to return for summer session II and we can really start working. We have something very, very exciting brewing up for Duke Nation this upcoming season. Just wait on it!
