CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Duke doubles team of junior Samantha Harris and sophomore Ellyse Hamlin extended its run Sunday morning after picking up a win in the semifinal round of the ITA Regional Championships presented by Oracle, held in Chapel Hill, N.C. The final of the doubles competition is set for 10 a.m. Monday.
Harris and Hamlin maintained their perfect record this fall after defeating NC State's duo of Martina Frantova and Tayla Stenta, 6-1, 7-6 (6), to reach the finals of the event. The Duke pair is slated to face South Carolina's team of Caroline Dailey and Mia Horvit for the title.
In addition to Duke's doubles pair, freshman Meible Chi was also in action Sunday. Chi played deep into the singles main draw, reaching the quarterfinals of the tournament, before falling to North Carolina's top-ranked rookie, Sara Daavettila, 6-7 (3), 6-2, 6-0. Chi has impressed during her first fall season with Duke, amassing a 12-3 record.
