What do you enjoy most about playing tennis?
I like being able to see the improvements my game makes from week to week. I like going out on the court to compete and seeing that something has improved because of the work I put in on the practice court.
What is your greatest memory from playing tennis?
My greatest memory from playing tennis would have to be winning a round at the Junior US Open. I was down a set and 5-2 and came back to win the second set 7-6 and the third set, too. The atmosphere was energetic and unbelievable.
What are you most looking forward to when you arrive on campus at Duke?
I'm looking forward to two things more than anything when I arrive on campus at Duke. First, I'll be reentering school. I've been doing online school since sixth grade; I'm really excited to have classes to go to and classmates to talk to. Second, I'm looking forward to being a part of a team. I think that this team is going to become my family and I just can't wait for that. This is even more meaningful since tennis is such an individual sport in the junior circuit--there isn't really much chance to be part of a team in juniors.
Who has had the greatest influence on your game?
I think the person that has had the greatest influence on my game is my coach, who I've worked with since I was nine years old.
What is something interesting about you that people may not know?
I like to bake desserts! Cookies, cakes, brownies, and more--I like to bake it all. Also, I learned how to snow ski when I was really young, and now I am in the process of learning how to snowboard.
