DURHAM, N.C. – Three former Duke women's soccer standouts are set to open preseason camp for the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) March 9. Rebecca Moros and Kim DeCesare will open with FC Kansas City, while Mollie Pathman will enter her second season with the Boston Breakers.
FC Kansas City, the reigning NWSL champions, will kick off the season Sunday, April 12 against Sky Blue FC, while Boston will open the year Saturday, April 11 versus Portland Thorns FC.
Moros appeared in 18 matches, while starting 13 contests in 2014 with Thorns FC. Prior to her arrival in Portland, Moros played two seasons with INAC Kobe Leonessa in Japan, appearing in 37 matches (27 starts).
A four-year letterwinner at Duke from 2003-06, Moros earned third-team All-America accolades in 2006, while also being named All-ACC on three different occasions. She finished her career at Duke with 15 goals, 20 assists and 50 points.
Pathman, 22, was drafted in the third round (No. 23 overall) by the Breakers in the 2014 NWSL College Draft. The Durham, N.C. native started 18 of her 21 matches played in 2014 for the Breakers, registering one assist in 1,519 minutes.
One of the best distributors to ever put on a Blue Devil uniform, Pathman played 87 career contests at Duke, while totaling 83 starts in the defense, midfield and forward slots. Pathman, who is a native of Durham, N.C., collected 29 assists, 17 goals and 63 points over her four years. Her 29 assists ranked third on the Duke career record books and Pathman's eight assists in NCAA Tournament play was a Blue Devil record. Pathman was a two-time All-ACC selection and member of the 2011 NCAA College Cup All-Tournament team. She helped lead the U.S. U-20 squad to the gold medal at the 2012 U-20 World Cup.
DeCesare will open camp with FC Kansas City, after playing with the Boston Breakers and Eskilstuna United DFF in Sweden. The 2013 graduate appeared in one match with the Breakers in 2014 as she primarily played on the practice squad.
After moving to the forward position as a junior, DeCesare flourished as a scorer for the Blue Devils posting 22 goals in 2012 and 2013. For her career, she finished with 29 goals, 15 assists and 73 points. DeCesare's 29 goals ranked sixth all-time at Duke and her 73 points were ninth. As a senior, she earned All-ACC Third Team accolades, while being selected to the All-ACC Second Team her junior campaign. DeCesare, who is out of Massapequa Park, N.Y., concluded her career with nine game-winning goals and six contests with two more tallies.
Former Duke ACC Defensive Player of the Year and two-time NSCAA All-America, Natasha Anasi will enter her second season playing professionally in Iceland. She appeared in 10 matches and scored two goals for IBV of Iceland this past season.
