DURHAM, N.C. -- The transformation of Wallace Wade Stadium began in earnest Monday as destruction of the Finch-Yeager Building, the former home of Duke sports medicine and the Duke football press box, started.
The process of clearing the wreckage from the former building will take approximately 10 days. In its place will be a modernized five-story tower that will house luxury suites, club seating, Blue Devil Network's operations and more.
The 90,000-plus square foot tower will include six different concession booths and restrooms on the main concourse level. The second floor contains a 300-plus seating dining room, exterior club accommodations and six luxury suites. The third level houses 15 additional luxury suites as well as the President's box. The fourth floor provides space for media, home and visiting coaches, broadcast and gameday operations with additional video filming space located on the roof.
Construction of the new tower is expected to be completed by September of 2016.
