Elizabeth Williams has received a national honor as the 6-3 center was selected one of 20 finalists for the John R. Wooden Award, who are the front-runners for college basketball's most prestigious individual honor.

The National Ballot consists of 15 top players who have proven to their universities that they are also making progress toward graduation and maintaining at least a cumulative 2.0 GPA. The Wooden Award All American Team, consisting of the nation's top five players, will be announced the week of the Final Four.
Williams, a native of Virginia Beach, Va., is averaging 14.5 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.0 blocks, 2.6 assists and 1.7 steals per game on the season. She currently ranks 12th in scoring, seventh in rebounding, 11th in field goal percentage (50.7) and tied first in the ACC in blocked shots. Williams, a three-time Associated Press and ACC Defensive Player of the Year, has totaled seven double-doubles on the season
The 39th annual Wooden Award ceremony will honor and reveal the Men's and Women's Wooden Award winners live on ESPN on April 10, and will include the presentation of the Wooden Award All American Teams and the Legends of Coaching Award, which in 2015 will go to San Diego State Head Men's Basketball Coach Steve Fisher.
Williams owns 399 swats for her career to rank 11th on the NCAA's all-time list, and is 35 blocks shy of the ACC career record held by former Blue Devil Alison Bales (434). In addition, she is fourth on Duke's all-time scoring list with 1,824 points over her four seasons. Williams needs 17 rebounds to become the second Blue Devil in school history to pull down 1,000 boards.
Duke will continue its four-game road swing Monday, Feb. 16 as the Blue Devils travel to fourth-ranked Notre Dame for a 9:00 p.m., tip on ESPN2.
