DURHAM, N.C. – The NSCAA has released its All-Region honors with three Duke women's soccer standouts earning Southeast Region accolades. Junior
Christina Gibbons earned first team, while
Rebecca Quinn and
Taylor Racioppi were named to the third team.
Duke is coming off advancing to the NCAA College Cup title match for the third time in school history, before falling to Penn State, 1-0. The Blue Devils collected a 14-6-5 overall record, while knocking off two No. 1 seeds and a No. 2 seed on their way to the championship.
Gibbons, who hails from Raleigh, N.C., helped guide the Blue Devil defense to 14 shutouts and just their third NCAA College Cup appearance. She also made her mark on the offensive side collecting three goals, five assists and 11 points in 2015.
An All-ACC First Team honoree, Gibbons and the Duke defense allowed only five goals over its final 13 matches, including the second most shutouts in school history with 14. The 2015 NSCAA All-America registered two goals and one assist in the 2015 NCAA Tournament.
Quinn, a third-team All-ACC selection, started 20-of-22 matches on the year and helped lead Duke to 14 shutouts, which was the second-most in school history. A mainstay on the Canadian National teams, Quinn also collected three goals on the season, including the game-winner against Appalachian State and tallies versus Boston College and second-seeded Florida in the NCAA Tournament.
Coming in as a freshman, Racioppi made an immediate impact for the Blue Devils. She notched a team-high 20 points to go along with seven goals and six assists, while also registering a team-best 86 shots. Her six assists ranked tied sixth and her seven goals was tied 13th on the Duke freshman record books. The All-ACC Freshman selection led the squad with four game-winning goals.
