DURHAM, N.C.—Duke University graduate student Jared Rist has been selected as this week's Ronald McDonald House Charities Duke Student-Athlete of the Week following his performances in a 2-0 week for the Blue Devils. He was instrumental in Duke extending its win streak to five games.
An outside back, Rist helped anchor the defense in allowing just a single goal in the two games while logging 183 minutes overall. He also added the game winner in a victory over Virginia Tech.
In the final midweek game of the year, Rist was crucial in the Blue Devils posting a 1-0 shutout of Jacksonville. Three days later in the regular season finale, Rist played the full 90 minutes and headed home the winning goal in a 2-1 win over Virginia Tech. Rist leads all Duke players in minutes played and has a goal and four assists this season.
The Blue Devils, the No. 8 seed in the upcoming ACC Championship, hosts Louisville in the first round Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. The game will be streamed live by the Blue Devil Network free of charge.
