FLUSHING, N.Y. – Sophomore Nicolas Alvarez fell in his opening round match at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championship.

The Lima, Peru, native was defeated 6-4, 6-2 by ACC rival Chris Eubanks of Georgia Tech. Both players remained on serve in the first set and were tied 3-3 before Eubanks took control of the match with a late run.

Alvarez will head to the consolation bracket and play Friday.
