PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – The Duke tandem of senior Beatrice Capra and freshman Ellyse Hamlin, ranked 39th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) preseason doubles poll, remained perfect on the season after defeating back-to-back opponents at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif., Thursday afternoon. The duo owns an overall record of 8-0 in 2015.
After qualifying for the doubles main draw with three straight qualifying draw victories, Capra and Hamlin continued their winning ways, upsetting the 11th-ranked duo of Yulya Lysa and Shannon Hudson of Arkansas, 8-5. The Blue Devil duo returned to the courts later in the day and upset its second straight top-15 opponent of the event, downing Texas A&M's fifth-ranked team of Eva Paalma and Rachel Pierson, 8-5.
The Duke duo is set to face the winner of the match between Arizona State's sixth-ranked pair of Desirae Krazczyk and Stephanie Vlad and Georgia's 20th-ranked team of Ellen Perez and Mariana Gould.
