Upcoming Event: Women's Tennis versus ITA Regional Championship on October 16, 2025

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – The 2015 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships opened Saturday afternoon, with two members of the Duke women's tennis team advancing beyond the second round of the pre-qualifying draw.
Freshmen Kaitlyn McCarthy and Ellyse Hamlin, competing in the pre-qualifying singles draw, each earned two wins to open the tournament. McCarthy required three sets to down Laura Gulbe of Pepperdine, but ultimately earned the 5-7, 6-0, 6-3 victory in her first match of the event. The Cary, N.C., native followed the performance with a 6-0, 6-0 rout of Rice's Kathrine Ip. McCarthy is scheduled to face Caroline Wegner of TCU tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. (ET). McCarthy remains perfect over her college career, owning a record of 5-0.
Hamlin downed her first opponent, No. 124 Alice Barnett of Northwestern, 6-1, 6-1, to reach the second round of the pre-qualifying draw. In the second round, Hamlin took Pepperdine's Matea Cutura to three sets and secured the victory by a score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. Hamlin is set to compete against Illinoi's Alexis Casati at 3 p.m. (ET) in third-round action. Hamlin improved to 3-1 with the pair of wins.
Fellow freshman Jessica Ho suffered her first loss as a Blue Devil after remaining unbeaten at the Duke James Bonk Invite two weeks earlier. Ho fell to 96th-ranked Shannon Hudson of Arkansas, 6-3, 7-5. Ho's singles record now sits at 3-1 on the season.
