DURHAM, N.C. -- On this date back in 1940, the Blue Devils defeated Princeton, 36-27, marking the first game ever played in Cameron Indoor Stadium, then known as Duke Indoor Stadium. The game was played in front of 8,000 fans, the largest crowd in the South to witness at basketball game at that time.
Since its opening January 6, 1940, Duke has gone on to compile an 825-153 record at the venue, including a 467-58 mark under
Mike Krzyzewski. The Blue Devils have won 41 straight games at Cameron, tied for the third longest home win streak in ACC history.
To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the oldest gymnasium in ACC history, the Blue Devil Network sat down with head coach
Mike Krzyzewski and a number of iconic figures in Duke basketball history, including Christian Laettner and Grant Hill, to share their thoughts on what makes Cameron Indoor Stadium so special.
