Setting the Scene... Coming off a tough road loss Thursday at Boston College, the 15th-ranked Duke women's basketball team (13-6, 4-2 ACC) will travel down Tobacco Road to take on 12th-ranked North Carolina (17-3, 4-2) Sunday, Jan. 25 at 5:00 p.m., at Carmichael Arena in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Sunday's game will be aired live on ESPN2 with Beth Mowins (PXP) and Carolyn Peck (Color) calling the action. It will also be aired live on the Blue Devil IMG Sports Network on WDNC 620 AM, 99.3 FM, 96.5 FM and www.GoDuke.com with Steve Barnes (PXP) and Morgan Patrick (Color) on the air.
Duke will be looking to snap a five-game road losing streak, which is the longest such streak since the 1993-94 through 1994-95 campaigns (6 games).
What is Next?... Duke will return home to host Pittsburgh Thursday, Jan. 29 at 6:30 p.m., in Cameron Indoor Stadium. It will mark the first of the final two-game homestand of the season.
Storylines/Other Blue Devil Notes... • Over the last two games, Duke's
Elizabeth Williams and
Azurá Stevens have averaged a combined 43.5 points, 18.0 rebounds, 8.0 assists, 6.0 blocks and 5.0 steals. The duo has hit 55.7 percent from the field.
• Two of the best shot-blockers in the nation will be on the floor Sunday --
Elizabeth Williams of Duke (No. 21 with 2.9 per game), Stephanie Mavunga (No. 28, 2.5).
• Duke has allowed an ACC-most 516 three-point field goals attempted, but leads the league with a 27.1 opponent percentage from downtown.
• Georgia Tech (143), Duke (140) and Boston College (134) and have allowed the most treys in the ACC.
• Opponents have hit 52 three-pointers in the last five games, including a team-high 13 by Boston College and Syracuse.
• After turning the ball over 22 or more times in five of six games, Duke has averaged 16.0 turnovers the last three contests.
• Duke has averaged 54.8 points in the six losses this season, while hitting 33.5 percent of its field goals.
• The Blue Devils had a 34-game winning streak snapped against unranked opponents with their loss at Boston College.
• Sophomore
Oderah Chidom missed the Miami and Boston College contests after suffering a dislocated left shoulder against Virginia Tech. She is expected to return to action at UNC.
• Duke has trailed at the half three games this season and have lost all three (UConn, Nebraska and Boston College).
• Heading into the Boston College game, Duke ranked first in field goal percentage (50.0) and first three-point field goal percentage (47.5), but the Blue Devils shot 32.7 percent from the field and 18.2 percent from downtown.
• Since the
Sierra Calhoun transfer, Duke is hitting 46.9 percent from the field and 43.1 percent from downtown. In the first 13 games, the Blue Devils were hitting 44.1 percent from the field and 31.7 percent from downtown.
• Redshirt freshman
Rebecca Greenwell's 1.9 steals per game average is the highest by any freshman in the ACC and ranks sixth overall.
• With the loss of
Sierra Calhoun, Duke is down to 10 scholarship players, which includes walk-on turned scholarship player
Jenna Frush.
• Duke has had 22 or more turnovers in seven out of the last 11 contests.
• The Blue Devils rank first nationally in rebounding margin (14.4). Duke is also averaging 31.0 defensive rebounds a game, which ranks No. 4.
• The Blue Devils currently rank first in the ACC and ninth nationally with a 33.6 field goal percentage defense.

Rebecca Greenwell ranks first in free throw percentage (91.7) and sixth nationally.
• Senior
Ka'lia Johnson ranks No. 4 in the ACC with a 4.1 assist per game average. She has dished 77 assists this season and had 39 assists her first three years combined.
• Duke lost four games prior to January for the first time since the 1998-99 campaign, when the Blue Devils advanced to the NCAA Final Four for the first time in school history.

Mercedes Riggs has come off the bench to notch 22 assists to only nine turnovers.

Elizabeth Williams ranks second in the ACC and No. 21 nationally with a 2.9 blocks per game average.
• Duke lost three straight games for the first time since the 2007-08 campaign, which was Coach P's first year at Duke. It snapped a 242 consecutive game streak without losing back-to-back games.

Joanne P. McCallie entered the 2014-15 campaign with a 73.2 winning percentage, which ranks 19th overall on the NCAA Division I coaching charts.
• Duke has a total of 17 games slated to be aired on television. All other home games will be carried live on the Blue Devil Network.

The Series with North Carolina... Duke will travel to Chapel Hill to take on the Tar Heels for the first of two season match-ups between the rival schools.
North Carolina holds the lead in the series record with a 49-40 mark. The Tar Heels are 27-11 against the Blue Devils in games played in Chapel Hill.
Duke has won eight of its last 10 games against North Carolina. The Blue Devils have won two of the last three games played in Chapel Hill.
Duke has played North Carolina twice on January 25th (1995 and 2001). The Blue Devils won both of those games.
Coach P owns an all-time mark of 10-10 against the Tar Heels.
A Look at North Carolina... North Carolina enters the contest Sunday with a 17-3 overall and 4-2 league mark. At home this season, the Tar Heels are 8-2 overall.
Allisha Gray (16.3 points, 31 treys), Stephanie Mavunga (13.7 points, 8.5 rebounds), Jessica Washington (7.3 points, 27 treys) and Brittany Rountree (7.1 points, 27 treys) have led North Carolina so far on the year.
The Tar Heels own five players who have hit 18 or more treys on the year and average 6.7 made three-pointers on the year.
Duke Players vs. North Carolina... In eight career games against North Carolina,
Elizabeth Williams has averaged 16.0 points, 8.6 rebounds, 3.8 blocks, 2.1 assists and 1.8 steals. She has totaled double-digit scoring in all eight contests with a career high of 28 points coming as a junior in Cameron.
Senior
Ka'lia Johnson has hit the court eight times versus the Tar Heels and has played her best in the last two contests. She totaled 12 points and four rebounds before totaling nine points and eight rebounds in the last two meetings.
Oderah Chidom hit the court three times last season and averaged 6.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.0 blocks.
USA Basketball Teammates... Duke redshirt freshman
Rebecca Greenwell played USA Basketball with two North Carolina student-athletes -- Stephanie Mavunga and Jessica Washington.
Greenwell and Mavunga competed on the 2011 USA Basketball U16 National Team in Merida, Mexico. The squad posted a 5-0 record and won the gold medal.
In 2012, Greenwell and Washington played for the USA Basketball U17 World Championship team that produced an 8-0 record and the gold medal in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Williams Comes Alive... After averaging only 6.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.0 blocks over the last two games, senior All-America
Elizabeth Williams was back to form against Miami and Boston College, averaging 21.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.0 steals.
She had a monster performance against Miami with a game-high 24 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal in 36 minutes. She hit 12-of-18 field goals in the win against previously unbeaten in the ACC Miami.
Williams backed it up with 19 points and nine rebounds at Boston College. She hit her first 10 free throw attempts in the game as she drained a career-high 11 free throws.
Over the last two games, Williams has moved up two spots into sixth on Duke's all-time scoring list with 1,729 points. She needs 32 points to inch into a tie for fifth along with Katie Meier (1,761).
Stevens Playing Big... Duke freshman
Azurá Stevens has surpassed her career high in points in each of the last two games with 20 and 24 points, respectively.
The rookie has averaged 22.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 steals in the last two contests. Stevens has drained 18-of-28 field goals for a 64.3 percentage.
She totaled a career-high 24 points on the road at Boston College in the last game.
Stevens is the first freshman to post back-to-back 20+ point performances since
Elizabeth Williams had 20 points in consecutive contests during the 2011-12 campaign.
In the ACC stats, Stevens ranks 21st in scoring (13.5), 10th in rebounding (7.8) and sixth in field goal percentage (55.5).
