DURHAM, N.C. – Duke University has partnered with Daktronics to design, manufacture and install a new state-of-the-art LED video board in Wallace Wade Stadium. The display – one of the first video boards in all of college football to utilize 13HD – is scheduled to be installed prior to the 2015 football season.
Yesterday, Duke announced that over the past weekend the institution's Board of Trustees approved three renovation projects for Wallace Wade Stadium including the construction of the new video board, which will be located in the South end zone.
"Providing our fans with the best possible in-house game experience is a priority for our planning in the new Wallace Wade Stadium,” said
Mike Cragg, Duke's Deputy Director of Athletics for Operations. “We are thrilled that we found a dynamic and state-of-the-art video board solution with our long-time partners, Daktronics. Duke Football has never looked better and now it will be seen in true 1080HD and bigger than ever before."
Featuring a 13HD pixel layout, the board's viewing surface will measure 42 feet high by 75.6 feet wide for 3,175 square feet – more than doubling that of the current video board – and display at a true 1080P high definition resolution.
“We are excited to be part of the Wallace Wade Stadium renovation,” said Corey Williams, Daktronics sales representative. “The new 13HD video display is going to enhance the game-day experience for the Blue Devils' fans and place their new scoreboard among the most technologically advanced in the collegiate ranks. Duke University has been a great partner for many years and we're grateful for this opportunity to build upon that partnership with this installation.”
Wallace Wade Stadium's current video board display, installed prior to the 2010 football season, will be divided and installed in Koskinen Stadium, home to Duke's men's and women's lacrosse and men's and women's soccer programs, and Morris Williams Track & Field Stadium, which is currently under construction.
Founded in 1968 as a USA-based manufacturing company, Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) has grown into the world leader in audio-visual systems and implementation with offices around the globe.
