DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke recently welcomed back to campus members of the 1989 football team to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its ACC Championship. The squad was honored on the field following the first quarter of play during the 2014 season opener against Elon on Aug. 30.
The Blue Devil Network caught up with former head coach Steve Spurrier and several members of the 1989 team to reminisce about its magical season.
Led by ACC Player of the Year Clarkston Hines and ACC Coach of the Year Spurrier, Duke compiled a 6-1 league record to tie for the top spot in the standings with Virginia. The Blue Devils finished that 1989 season with an 8-4 overall ledger.
