DURHAM, N.C. -- As Duke prepares for the postseason, the Blue Devil Network and GoDuke.com will count down the top plays from the first 12 games of the 2014 football campaign. The site will feature one highlight per day with the top play revealed on Saturday, December 27 when the Blue Devils (9-3) participate in the program's third consecutive bowl game, meeting No. 15 Arizona State (9-3) in the Hyundai Sun Bowl at 2 p.m. (ET) on CBS.
Thomas Sirk provides the No. 2 play and received plenty of help from the Duke offensive line. With the Blue Devils trailing by three in the second overtime period at Pitt, Sirk and friends bulled into the end zone for the game-winning touchdown.
In his first season of significant playing time, Sirk proved to be a dual threat at quarterback. The redshirt sophomore went 10-14 passing for 67 yards and three touchdowns. As a runner, Sirk amassed 232 yards on 45 carries, along with a team-leading eight scoring runs.
