
Duke Posts Perfect Saturday In Florida

LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. – The semifinals and finals of the Dick Vitale Clay Court Classic will have a very blue hue Sunday. Duke has two representatives in the main draw singles semifinals, one Blue Devil in the consolation bracket semifinals and a team playing for the doubles championship. Duke finished Saturday's action with a perfect 4-0 record.
In singles, junior Bruno Semenzato and senior Raphael Hemmeler each advanced to the main draw semifinals. Semenzato fought No. 3 seed Henrik Wiersholm of Virginia for three sets before pulling out a 6-1, 3-6, 6-0 victory. Hemmeler advanced with a 6-2, 6-4 triumph against Florida Gulf Coast's Andres Alfonzo.
Sunday in the semifinals, Semenzato will face the draw's top seed in Princeton's Zack McCourt. Hemmeler will square off against Princeton's Thomas Colutti.
In the consolation bracket, junior Josh Levine also advanced to the semifinals with a Saturday victory, topping Michigan's Davis Crocker 6-2, 7-5. Levine will play Princeton's Joshua Yablon in the semifinals Sunday.
In doubles, Hemmeler and Levine, the draw's No. 2 seed, earned a tough 8-6 win over Virginia's Jonathan Cornish and Wiersholm. The pair will take on top seed Caio Gomes and Yannick Zuern of North Florida for the title on Sunday.
