On tonight's game:
“Playing (Temple Head Coach Fran Dunphy's) team is always a challenge because he is one of the best coaches. With their tradition, it is always an honor to play against Temple.
“I thought we played really good defense tonight; I mean really good defense. We did not hit shots like we normally do, so that made playing defense even better. We missed some shots and their defense is real good.
“Overall it was a good performance, beating a really good program.”
On Temple's defense of Jahlil Okafor:
“(Temple) is real physical and clean. Jahlil has to be ready for that. He has to go through these things. He had 20 shots tonight, and I'd love to get him 20 shots every game.”
On Jahlil Okafor's development as a player:
“He is a willing learner, he is a great kid…He'll keep learning, he'll keep getting better. His teammates have unbelievable confidence in him. They get him the ball and they should.”
On playing Stanford in the Championship game Saturday night:
“They are big. (Stanford Head Coach) Johnny Dawkins has a really good system with how he uses them. I'd rather not play him, but I'd rather play him tomorrow because that means we won tonight. I'm proud of Johnny. Johnny is part of our family.
“Johnny was the first great player to commit to me. Johnny is as good a player as we have ever had at Duke. And he's a great man. He's got the whole package.”
On Duke's solid defensive performance tonight:
“We played without fouling. I thought we kept guys in front of us pretty much the whole game. I thought we switched well. Our big guys protected the bucket well, so (Temple) didn't have a straight line to the rim.”

“Well I'd seen enough film on him to know we were facing a terrific college basketball player. His skill set is outstanding. It's hard to guard him out there but I was hoping that he wouldn't be as efficient of a passer as he was. He's really a terrific, terrific player.”
On defense:
“I think it's getting better. I'm hoping we can be better after this. They're really a top-dollar team. Our defensive numbers didn't shine very much and that was ok for us in the first half, but in the second we didn't have the same intensity. We were not nearly as good the 2nd half. But I do think our defense is getting better.”
On the 17 turnovers:
“As good as they are defensively; we were apt to lost focus. It wasn't Will's game. But we'll work on it. They have defensive toughness and they're good at what they do. “
