• Improved to 33-14 all-time against SEC teams, while McCallie improved to 17-15 overall.
Senior Elizabeth Williams• Totaled 17 points, 12 rebounds and six blocks.
• Posted her 20th career double-double.
• Moved into second on the ACC career blocks list with 337 swats passing LaToya Pringle (UNC – 336).
• Moved into eighth place on Duke's all-time rebounding list with 802.
• Became the 10th player in Blue Devil history to register 1,500 points (1,508).
Senior Ka'lia Johnson• Started her sixth straight game at point guard, dating back to her junior campaign.
Redshirt Freshman Rebecca Greenwell• Notched a double-double in her college debut with 17 points, 10 rebounds to go along with seven steals, three assists and one blocked shot.
• Her seven steals was tied fourth in a single game by a Duke freshman.
• Hit 8-of-8 from the free throw.
• Along with
Sierra Calhoun, became the 15th and 16th freshmen in Coach P's 23 years to start their first collegiate game. Overall, they became the 24th and 25th freshmen in Duke history to start their first game.
Freshman Sierra Calhoun• Totaled five points and three steals in 29 minutes.
• Along with
Rebecca Greenwell, became the 15th and 16th freshmen in Coach P's 23 years to start their first collegiate game. Overall, they became the 24th and 25th freshmen in Duke history to start their first game.
Sophomore Oderah Chidom• Posted a team-high 10 first half points and went on to finish the game with 17 points.
• Hit 7-of-9 field goals.
• Had a career-high five assists.
• Notched double-digit scoring for the seventh time in her career.
Freshman Azura Stevens
• Totaled a double-double in the season opener with 10 points and 10 rebounds in 26 minutes.
• Hit 5-of-8 field goals.
Other Duke Notes…• Had three players with double-doubles.
• First time since 2012 Duke had three players with 10 or more rebounds.
• Three players led Duke with 17 points each.
• Notched nine blocked shots as a team.
• Posted a 55-22 advantage in rebounds.
• Collected 18 steals and forced 23 Alabama turnovers.
• Hit 55.4 percent from the field for the game.
• The Blue Devils featured two freshmen starters for the first time under McCallie at Duke. It marked only the third time in school history two freshmen started the season opener and the first since 2000-01 (Alana Beard, Iciss Tillis).
• Hit 25-of-34 free throws on the night.
• Will next travel to Old Dominion Thursday, Nov. 20 for a 7:00 p.m., tip in Norfolk, Va.
