DURHAM, N.C. – Several preseason college basketball magazines have hit the newsstands with the Duke women's basketball program ranked in the top 12 nationally in all three. Head coach
Joanne P. McCallie and the Blue Devils are preparing to host three exhibition contests over the next eight days prior to opening the regular season Sunday, Nov. 16.
In the Sporting News preseason poll, Duke was selected No. 11, while the Blue Devils earned a No. 12 listing in the Lindy's Magazine and Athlon Magazine ledgers.

Elizabeth Williams received preseason first team All-America honors by Athlon, while being listed on the second team by Lindy's Magazine and Sporting News. Williams, who is from Virginia Beach, Va., is a three-time Associated Press All-America and three-time ACC Defensive Player of the Year.
Williams averaged 13.8 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.1 blocks, 2.2 assists and 1.3 steals as a junior. The 6-3 forward/center needs 104 blocks to break the Duke and ACC career blocks record held by Alison Bales (434). She also is 24 blocks away from 25th on the NCAA career blocks list (331).
The Sporting News had Connecticut, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Stanford, UCLA, Baylor, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Louisville, Texas, Duke, California, DePaul, Nebraska and Kentucky rounded out the top 15.
In the Lindy's Magazine ledger, Connecticut, South Carolina, Notre Dame, Stanford, Tennessee, North Carolina, Maryland, Baylor, Texas A&M, Louisville, Duke, Kentucky, Oklahoma State, West Virginia and DePaul were in the top 15.
Connecticut, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Stanford, Tennessee, Baylor, Texas, Iowa, Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina, Nebraska and California were in the top 15 of the Athlon poll.
Following the Blue/White scrimmage Sunday, Oct. 26 at 2:00 p.m., Duke will host exhibition contests on Thursday, Oct. 30 at 6:30 p.m., against Limestone and Sunday, Nov. 2 versus Armstrong State at 2:00 p.m. All exhibitions are free admission.
Duke opens the regular season at Alabama Sunday, Nov. 16 at 8:00 p.m., on the SEC Network. The home opener will take place Nov. 23 as Marquette comes to town at 2:00 p.m.
