Boutier Closes European Amateur Team Championship

YORK, England – Duke University sophomore Celine Boutier closed the 2013 European Ladies' Amateur Team Championship over the weekend at the Fulford Golf Club in York, England. Boutier represented France, which earned a No. 7 seed to advance to match play.
A product of Montrouge, France, Boutier carded rounds of 69 and 74 as she placed tied for 10th with a one-under-par, 143, in stroke play. Oona Vartiainen of Finland and Madelene Sagstrom of Sweden claimed individual medalist honors with an eight-under-par ledger.
As a team, France placed tied for sixth with a 21-over-par score, while Denmark earned the No. 1 seed in match play by shooting 19-under-par as a team.
France was seeded No. 7 and faced Spain in Flight A match play, but lost 5.5-1.5 to drop into the consolation bracket. Boutier went up against Marta Sanz and halved the match. She also teamed with Alexandra Bonetti in a foursome match but lost 4&2 to Sanz and Natalia Escuriola.
In the consolation bracket, France downed Netherlands 4-1. Boutier halved her singles match versus Ileen Domela Nieuwenhuis. France dropped a 4-1 decision to Denmark to close the championship. In the match, Boutier fell, 3&1, to Daisy Nielsen.
Spain claimed the team title with a 5-2 victory over Austria.
Boutier is a product of Montrouge, France and is coming off a rookie campaign at Duke where she was named the ACC Rookie of the Year and was a Golfweek Honorable Mention All-America selection.
