Cheek, Jackson Add Comfort to Blue Devil Staff

DURHAM, N.C.— Two years ago, head coach Joanne P. McCallie was able to bring two former players back to her coaching staff with the addition of Duke graduate Joy Cheek and Michigan State alumnae Candice M. Jackson. The comfort for Coach P to have former student-athletes on her staff is key to the success of the Blue Devil women's basketball program.
The Blue Devil Network sat down with Cheek and Jackson to discuss what they learned playing for Coach P and then coming back to be an assistant coach. Since joining the Duke staff,
Cheek and Jackson have helped bring in the No. 2 rated recruiting class in the nation.
Duke will next play in the Trojan Classic from Dec. 21-22 in Los Angeles, Calif. The Blue Devils will take on CSU-Bakersfield on Dec. 21 followed by Southern California on Dec. 22.
