Team Notes:
• Duke improved to 44-15 (.746) all-time in ACC openers.
• With the win in Phillips Arena, Duke is now 6-2 this season in games away from home.
• Duke improved to 63-22 against Georgia Tech in the all-time series, which began in 1922. The win was Duke's fourth straight in the series.
• Duke improved to 65-24 when ranked fifth in the Associated Press Top-25 Poll.
• Duke has now won 12 consecutive games following a loss and is now 20-2 following a loss over the last five seasons. Duke has not lost back-to-back games since Feb. 11 & Feb. 15, 2009.
• Free throw shooting was the difference as Duke went 11-for-13 from the free throw line over the final five minutes of the game, thanks to junior
Ryan Kelly who hit his last 10 tries from the charity stripe and finished 14-for-14. Georgia Tech went just 3-for-7 over the final five minutes and 12-for-19 (63.2 percent) for the game.
• Duke got 32 points from its bench thanks largely to the production of Kelly, who scored a career-high 21. Kelly has scored in double figures in all four of his games that he was not in the starting lineup.

Quinn Cook manning the point to start the game, Duke scored on six of its first seven possessions to open a 14-6 lead. During that opening run, Cook scored five points and recorded two assists.
• Duke scored 40 points in both halves, giving the Blue Devils at least 40 points in 13 of their last 14 halves. Duke has scored at least 40 points in both halves in six of their last seven games and six times overall this year.
• Duke scored over 80 points for the eighth time this season and the sixth time in the last seven games. Duke ranks ninth in the NCAA with 82.1 points per game.
• Both Miles and
Mason Plumlee each recorded a block for the seventh consecutive game. Those two have combined for 49 of Duke's 71 blocks (69 percent).
• Duke shot a season-low 27.3 percent from three-point range, hitting just six of 2 shots. Duke, which leads the ACC and ranked sixth nationally with a .429 three-point percentage entering the game, had shot 47.5 percent or better from three-point range over the last four games.
• The Blue Devils committed a season-low nine turnovers. Duke forced Georgia Tech into 13 turnovers, and scored 18 points off of those.
Player Notes:
Quinn Cook
• Made his first career start, scored in double figures and amassed five assists in 27 minutes.
• Dished out five assists and made just one turnover to improve his NCAA-leading assist-to-turnover ratio to 4.50:1. He has made one or zero turnovers in 13 of Duke's 15 games.
• Got Duke off to a quick start by scoring five points and giving out two assists in the first four minutes of the game to help Duke build 12-6 lead.
Seth Curry
• Made his 28th consecutive start. Duke is 23-5 during that 28-game streak.
• Scored in double figures for the ninth time this year with 15 points.
• Knocked down a pair of three-pointers. Curry ranks second all-time at Duke with a career .434 three-point percentage.
• Registered three steals, giving him two or more steals in eight of Duke's 15 games. Curry averages 1.73 steals per game.
Ryan Kelly
• Went 14-for-14 from the free throw line and hit all 10 of his free throws in the final 4:09 of the game. Duke led by no more than three points in three of his last five trips to the line, and he turned the contest into a two-possession game each time.
• The 14-for-14 performance from the line tied for the second best in Duke history. Dick Groat went 17-for-17 in 1950, and both Gene Banks (1980) and J.J. Redick (2005) went 14-for-14 in a game.
• Set career highs with 21 points and 14 made free throws. Kelly shoots 82.3 percent from the free throw line this season.
• Scored in double figures for the 10th time this season.
• Was not in the starting lineup for the first time in Duke's last 11 games.
Mason Plumlee
• Made his 36th consecutive start. Duke is 30-6 during that 36-game streak.
• Recorded his 121st career block, surpassing Casey Sanders (2000-03) for ninth place on Duke's all-time blocks list. Plumlee has a block in nine straight games and multiple blocks in 10 games overall this year.
Miles Plumlee
• Hit all three of his shots, improving his team-leading field goal percentage to .683 (43-of-63). Miles has hit at least 50 percent of his shots in all but two games this year (both 0-for-1 performances).
• Blocked a shot for the seventh consecutive game. Miles has recorded 18 of his 20 blocks and averaged 2.57 stops per game during that span.
Austin Rivers
• Stole a pass from Georgia Tech with 1:50 remaining in the game and took it all the way down the court for a contested fast break layup that increased Duke's lead from two points to four at 70-66.
• Also secured a rebound on a missed Georgia Tech free throw during the Yellow Jackets' next possession with under 1:30 remaining. Duke scored on its next possession to turn the four-point lead into six points.
• Matched a career high with three steals.
Tyler Thornton
• Hit his seventh consecutive three-pointer. Thornton is 7-for-7 from three-point range over his last four games and is 8-for-9 over his last five games.
