Team Notes:
• Duke lost to an unranked opponent for the first time since a 64-60 loss at Virginia Tech on Feb. 26, 2011. Duke had won 14 straight games against unranked opponents.
• Duke has won 35 of its last 40 non-conference games. The Blue Devils are 63-8 in non-league games since the start of the 2008-09 season.
• The Blue Devils shot over 40 percent from the three-point line for the third straight game. The Blue Devils are shooting 42.9 percent from beyond the arc this season and have five players shooting .400 or better (minimum 10 three-pointers made). Duke leads the ACC in three-pointers made (115) and in three-point percentage.
• After making a combined a combined 33 three-point field goals and sinking 48.5 percent of its three-point shots over three last three games, Duke attempted a season-low 14 treys against Temple. Four of those attempts came in the final minute of play with Duke trailing 71-65.
• Brothers
Miles Plumlee and
Mason Plumlee combined for 16 rebounds and 33 points on 15-of-24 (.625) shooting. Those two have combined for at least 15 rebounds in six straight games and are shooting a combined 64.1 percent on the year.
• The Plumlees also combined for five blocks and both recorded multiple rejections. Those two have recorded a block in the same game in six of Duke's 14 games and have both recorded multiple blocks three times.
• Temple became only the second team all season to shoot 50 percent from three-point range against Duke, finishing 5-for-10 from beyond the arc. Temple is one of only four teams to shoot over 35 percent from three-point range against the Blue Devils.
• Khalif Wyatt became the sixth player to score 20 points against Duke this season. He is only the fourth to hit more than two three-pointers in a game.
• Temple ended a productive scoring streak for the Blue Devils, who entered the game with the seventh highest scoring average in the nation (82.8 ppg). Duke had scored 80 or more points in five straight games and had scored at least 40 points in 10 straight halves before both streaks ended on Wednesday.
Player Notes:
Quinn Cook
• Recorded his 21st consecutive assist without recording a turnover for the second longest streak in school history. Cook's streak began with two assists on Dec. 19 against UNC Greensboro and continued with eight assists and no turnovers against Western Michigan on Dec. 30 and nine assists and no turnovers against Penn on Jan. 1. Cook recorded two assists tonight against Temple before committing a turnover.
• Cook came to within one assist of tying the school record of 22 straight assists without a turnover.
Jon Scheyer set that mark over his first four games of the 2009-10 season.
Seth Curry
• Made his 27th consecutive start. Duke is 22-5 during that 27-game streak.
• Picked off four steals, matching his season high and increasing his team-leading total to 23.
• Has hit at least one three-pointer in 13 of Duke's 14 games this season.
Michael Gbinije
• Started the second half and scored five points. Gbinije went 2-for-2 from the floor and is now 7-for-9 over his last three games. He is shooting 62.5 percent on the year.
• Knocked down his fourth three-pointer of the year and is now shooting .500 (4-of-8) from three-point range.
Mason Plumlee
• Made his 35th consecutive start. Duke is 29-6 during that 35-game streak.
• Recorded his seventh double-double of the season with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Mason scored in double figures for the ninth time this season and recorded 10+ rebounds for the seventh time. He has five double-doubles in his last eight games.
• Went 7-for-13 from the floor, improving his shooting percentage to .626 (67-for-107). Mason has shot 50.0 percent or better in 13 of 14 games this year.
• Recorded a block for the eighth straight game. Mason ranks 10th on Duke's all-time blocks list with 119 blocks and eighth with 1.40 blocks per game.
Miles Plumlee
• Scored a season-high 17 points for the second highest scoring output of his career. He sank a career-high eight field goals while going 8-for-11 from the floor.
• Scored 12 points in the first half, the first time this year that he has scored in double figures in a half.
• Continued to display his dominant defense in the paint, recording a pair of blocks to extend a streak of six straight games with a rejection. Over that six-game, Miles has posted 17 blocks at a team-leading average of 2.83 per game.
Austin Rivers
• Hit two three-pointers in the first half, giving him multiple treys for the ninth time in his last 10 games.
• Extended his consecutive made free throw streak to 12 by hitting his first four free throws. He ended the streak with a miss with under 15 seconds left to play in the game.
Tyler Thornton
• Made his sixth consecutive three-pointer by sinking his only attempt. Thornton is 7-for-8 (.875) from the three-point line over his last four games.
