CARY, N.C. - Weather was not an issue on Sunday, as sunny skies and mid-70's temperatures allowed players to complete the final day of the Duke Fab-4 Invitational at the Cary Tennis Park.
In the blue bracket, sophomore Hanna Mar fell 6-2, 6-2 to North Carolina's Caroline Price, who claimed third place in the bracket.
In the black bracket, freshman Ester Goldfeld was victorious over Illinois' Melissa Kopinski, 7-5, 6-3, in the third place match, and freshman Annie Mulholland claimed a 6-4, 6-3 win over North Carolina's Jennifer Stone in the seventh place match.
The third place match in the white bracket featured two Blue Devils going head-to-head, as sophomore Rachel Kahan defeated junior Mary Clayton, 6-4, 6-2.
Senior Monica Gorny played an additional match, but fell, 2-6, 3-6, against Purdue's Mara Schmidt. The two won 15th place in the blue and black brackets after their opponents withdrew from their matches.
In doubles action, the duo of Kahan and Mulholland won the consolation championship in the A Bracket over Elizabeth Begley and Lauren Santacroce, who teamed up from Texas and Texas A&M, respectively.
In the B Bracket, Clayton and Goldfeld settled for a second place finish after falling to Mississippi's Kristi Boxx and Abby Guthrie, 8-5.
In the C Bracket, Gorny and Mar won the consolation bracket championship with an 8-4 triumph over North Carolina's De Bruycker and McHale.
