DURHAM, N.C.--The Duke men's basketball trip to China and Dubai has been delayed due to mechanical problems with the North American Airlines charter plane that was to take the group from Raleigh-Durham International Airport to Shanghai. The situation developed with the aircraft earlier Sunday in Miami, and a subsequent inspection at RDU determined that it was not able to depart for Anchorage, Alaska, where a refueling stop was scheduled for late Sunday night.
According to Duke officials, the airline was not able to provide a backup plane until Monday morning. The team is expected to arrive in time to tour the future campus at Duke Kunshan University and play the Chinese Olympic Team on Wednesday at Kunshan Stadium. The teams will meet again on Thursday at the Mercedes-Benz Center in Shanghai, and for a third game on Monday, 8/22, at the Master Card Arena in Beijing.
