DURHAM, N.C. - Quinn Cook, Marshall Plumlee and Austin Rivers have all signed national letters of intent to play for Duke next season and have been selected to compete in the 2011 McDonald's All-American game Wednesday, March 30 at the United Center in Chicago.
Cook and Plumlee will be on the East squad for the McDonald's All-American game. Cook is a 6-0 guard who plays at Oak Hill Academy in Virginia and Plumlee is a 6-10 forward/center from Christ School in Arden, N.C. Rivers is a 6-3 guard from Winter Park, Fla. and will be on the West team.
Marshall Plumlee joins older brother Mason for the only brothers in Duke history to be named McDonald's All-Americans. Rivers is the son of Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers who was a McDonald's All-American in 1980. It is just the second father/son duo to be selected along with Milt Wagner (1981) and DaJuan Wagner (2001).
The three players give Duke 55 McDonald's All-Americans since 1977 with 53 of those coming under head coach Mike Krzyzewski. It is the eighth season where three or more Blue Devils commits were selected to the McDonald's All-American teams. The last year it happened was 2007 when Taylor King, Kyle Singler and Nolan Smith were chosen.
In addition to the game the players will visit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana to help raise money for the charities.
The McDonald's All-American game will be televised on ESPN with tipoff scheduled for 10 p.m. (ET).
