Under Church's direction, Duke captured the ACC regular season title for only the second time in school history and had a league-high six players earn All-ACC honors. The 2011 ACC Coach of the Year, Church has overseen a squad that improved from 11 wins last year to post a school-record 22 victories in what has been his best season since arriving in Durham in 2001. He has also led Duke to nine wins over ranked opponents this year, including a 3-1 upset of then top-ranked Notre Dame on Aug. 28.
This marks the second time in his career at Duke that Church has been recognized for Regional Coach of the Year honors, as he was named the South Regional Coach of the Year in 2004.
Church has led the Blue Devils to five straight NCAA Tournament victories on their way to the program's first appearance at the NCAA College Cup since the 1992 season. Duke is set to face top-ranked Stanford in the NCAA Championship game on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 1 p.m. in Kennesaw, Ga.
