Team Notes:
• Brothers Mason and
Miles Plumlee combined to haul in 26 of Duke's season-high 46 rebounds, which was just one less than UNC Greensboro had as a team. Both Plumlees had 13 rebounds to account for over 50 percent of Duke's total boards.
• Duke extended its NCAA-leading home court win streak to 41 games and matched the second longest streak in school history in the process. The school record is 46 straight home wins from Jan. 13, 1997 to Feb. 9, 2000. Duke has not lost on Coach K Court since Feb. 11, 2009.
• Duke started 10-1 for the 19th time in school history and the 13th time under Krzyzewski.
• The Blue Devils have now won 90 consecutive non-conference home games in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
• In December, Duke is now 53-3 under Coach K. Duke has won 14 straight December games with 11 of those wins coming by double digits.
• With 10 made three-pointers, Duke sank its most three-pointers since Feb. 2, 2011 against Maryland (10).
• Duke ended the first half with a 15-6 run over the final 4:42 to take a 45-34 lead into the break. Duke hit four three-pointers – including two by
Austin Rivers – and grabbed seven of 10 rebounds during the run. Rivers and
Andre Dawkins hit three straight three-pointers.
• From the three-point line, Duke shot 47.6 percent for its third best percentage of the season.
• The Blue Devils gave up their third fewest points of the season. UNC Greensboro scored only 29 points in the second half, marking the third time this years that Duke has held an opponent to fewer than 30 points in a half.
• The Blue Devils shot 58.6 percent from the floor in the second half and held the Spartans to a 34.5 mark in the same half. Freshman point guard
Quinn Cook keyed the second half surge by going 6-of-6 from the floor and 2-for-2 from three-point range. Cook also dished out two assists without committing a turnover in the second half.
Player Notes:
Quinn Cook
• Scored a career-high 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting…scored all 14 points in the second half.
• Saw a span of 26:04 without a turnover come to an end at the 15:30 mark in the first half. Cook has just six turnovers in 105 minutes this season, good for an average of 17.5 minutes between turnovers.
• Set career highs in points (14), made field goals (6) and field goal attempts (7). Cook also matched highs in made three-point field goals (2) and three-point field goal attempts (3).
• Now has 45 points off the bench to rank second on the team.
Seth Curry
• Made his 24th consecutive start. Duke is 29-4 during that 24-game streak.
• Increased his consecutive made free throw streak to 23 by going 4-for-4 from the line. Curry needs to make four more to tie Shane Battier for the sixth longest streak in school history (27).
• Swiped a season-high tying four steals.
Andre Dawkins
• Hit three three-pointers to finish with multiple treys for the seventh time this season.
• Scored in double figures for the sixth time this season and in the third straight game.
• Sank his team-leading 25th three-pointer of the year.
Michael Gbinije
• Scored a career-high eight points in 14 minutes of action.
• Went 2-for-2 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free throw line.
Ryan Kelly
• Matched a career high by the end of the first half by shooting 10 free throws.
• Scored in double figures for the eighth time this season scoring seven of his points from the free throw line.
• Recorded two blocked shots and a steal, giving him both a block and a steal in five games this season.
Mason Plumlee
• Made his 32nd consecutive start. Duke is 27-5 during that 32-game streak.
• Posted his team-leading fifth double-double of the year with 15 points and 13 rebounds. He matched a career high with six offensive rebounds.
• Recorded at least 10 rebounds for the sixth time this season and recorded at least 10 points for the eighth time this year.
• Scored in double figures for the fifth straight game.
• Moved into 11th place on Duke's career blocked shots list. With two blocks tonight, he moved to within one block of tying
Chris Carrawell, who had 114 blocks for his four-year career.
• Had multiple blocks for the fifth straight game and the seventh time this season.
Miles Plumlee
• Pulled in 13 rebounds to match a season high.
• Recorded at least 10 rebounds for the second time this season and the ninth time in his career.
• Became the fourth player in Duke history to record double-digit rebounds without scoring a point. His 13 rebounds were the most in a game by a player who did not score. Miles attempted just one field goal.
Austin Rivers
• Scored in double figures for the team-leading 10th time and in the eight straight game.
• Sank consecutive three-point attempts in the final five minutes of the first half sparking a 15-6 Duke run. Rivers also sank a free throw to account for seven points during that run.
