CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Duke University junior women's golfer Lindy Duncan continued her torrid start to the 2011-12 campaign over the weekend as the two-time All-America carded a 54-hole total of five-under-par, 211, on her way to finishing seventh overall at the Tar Heel Invitational, which was being played at the 6,285-yard, par 72 Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Duncan played her final 36 holes of action at seven-under-par over the weekend and has now shot five-under, four-under and four-under in three tournaments to open the fall. On Sunday, Duncan posted four birdies and her team-best second eagle of the season as she turned in a three-under, 69. Her eagle came on the 330-yard, par four seventh hole as she hit a sand wedge from 85 yards that hit a few inches behind the cup and spun back into the hole for an eagle.

A native of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Duncan hit 11 greens, 12 fairways and had 29 putts in the final round. Taking individual medalist honors was Marta Sanz of Auburn with a 54-hole total of 207. In her last two second and third rounds, Duncan is a combined 14-under-par.

As a team, Duke shot a one-under-par, 287, on Saturday, but couldn't maintain that on the final day as the Blue Devils posted a 294 on their way to finishing with a three-day ledger of 879, which was 10th overall.

LSU came back to take the team title at eight-under-par, 856. Alabama (860), Auburn (861), North Carolina (862), N.C. State (869), Tennessee (870), Georgia (870), Michigan State (877), Wake Forest (877) and Duke (879) rounded out the top 10.

Junior Stacey Kim registered a season-best finish on the weekend as the Columbus, Ga., product collected rounds of 75, 72 and 73 to total 220, which was tied for 29th. Kim opened her round on hole 10 and carded birdies on the 10th, 15th and 18th to make the turn at one-under-par. She collected a season-best 16 greens-in-regulation, while hitting 10 fairways and rolling 33 putts on the day. Kim closed the final nine with seven pars and two bogeys.

After carding a final round 76, sophomore Alejandra Cangrejo closed the tournament with a total of 227, which was tied for 73. She started slow with four bogeys in her first eight holes, but came back strong with a birdie on the 18th to make the turn at three-over-par. Cangrejo, who is from Bogota, Colombia, suffered a double-bogey on No. 1 but responded with birdies on the second, fourth and fifth holes to get her score back to two-over-par. She closed with two bogeys and two pars to finish with a 76. Cangrejo hit 10 greens, nine fairways and had 30 putts. Her four birdies matched a team best.

Freshman Irene Jung finished the tournament with a 77 on Sunday on her way to placing tied for 86th with a 232. She had one birdie on the day, while totaling 28 putts, 10 fairways and seven greens.

After not playing in the second round due to her observing the Jewish holiday Yom Kippur, sophomore Laetitia Beck fired a 76 on Sunday. A native of Caesarea, Israel, Beck couldn't get her putter going in the final round as she had a team-high 34 putts, while hitting eight greens and 11 fairways. She rolled in birdies on No. 3, No. 7 and No. 16.

As a team, the Blue Devils carded 15 birdies on the day.

Duke will next close the fall campaign on Oct. 28-30 at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C.
