NEW ORLEANS -- Thomas Hill, a member of the 1991 and 1992 Duke men's basketball national championship teams, has joined the Sun Belt staff as the league's Director of Championships.
"We are very excited about Thomas joining the Sun Belt Conference staff," said Sun Belt Commissioner Wright Waters. "Thomas' basketball background and experiences as a student-athlete will unquestionably help the league's championship events. Having Lee Fowler as our Director of Men's and Women's Basketball Operations and Thomas as our Director of Championships also clearly demonstrates the league's dedication to the sport of basketball for both men and women."
At the Sun Belt Conference, Hill will work to increase awareness and ticket sales at all Sun Belt Championships. Notably, Hill will be assigned the task of implementing community relations projects such as youth clinics and similar supplementary events.
Hill will serve a major role in the organization of the Sun Belt Conference's basketball championships in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He will oversee the conference's basketball championship events such as the annual Dribble Drive, Pep Band Spectacular, Day at the Races at Oaklawn Park and the Sun Belt Alumni Reception.
Hill will also work with marketing and promotions managers at each Sun Belt Conference member institution to drive ticket sales and awareness. He will also serve as the conference liaison with IMG College Sports, the conference's rights holder.
Hill played for the Duke University men's basketball team from 1990 to 1993. After graduating, he was selected by the Indiana Pacers in the 2nd round of the 1993 NBA Draft.
Hill is the son of former Arkansas State hurdler Thomas Hill who competed in the 1972 Munich Olympic Games.
