DURHAM, N.C. - Duke Athletics and IMG College announced today that CARQUEST Auto Parts will serve as the title sponsor for the annual CARQUEST Auto Parts Classic, this year to be held in New York City at Madison Square Garden on December 10.
The "CARQUEST Auto Parts Classic", which will feature two games this season with Duke facing Washington at 12 noon on CBS-TV, followed by a 3:00 p.m. tip on ESPN between Pittsburgh and Oklahoma State.
"Over the past 76 years, The World's Most Famous Arena has been host to many of the all-time great college basketball games, earning its Mecca of Basketball moniker with elite programs squaring off in front of sold-out crowds," said Scott O'Neil, president, MSG Sports.
"The CARQUEST Auto Parts Classic continues this tradition and features a Garden regular and basketball super power, Duke, taking on Washington, followed by Big East's Pittsburgh battling Oklahoma State, capping off what is sure to be an exciting day for basketball fans."
The Duke-Washington game will feature two preseason top 25 teams. Duke returns senior

"We are thankful to have CARQUEST Auto Parts as the title sponsor of the Duke-Washington game," said Duke head coach
Mike Krzyzewski. "We have a strong fan base in the New York area and always enjoy playing in Madison Square Garden. It should be an outstanding game between two talented teams. Washington has excellent personnel and Coach Romar does a terrific job of running the program. We look forward to the challenge on December 10."
"We are ecstatic to participate in this game against Duke and are excited about the involvement of CARQUEST Auto Parts," added Washington head coach Lorenzo Romar. "Year in and year out, Duke has proven to be one of the elite programs in America. The job Coach K has done in his career, not only with Duke, but USA Basketball has been obviously outstanding."
